The Handbag Series - #2:
Hold Everything!

Tin Handbag Workshop

Handbags come in a variety of shapes and sizes and beyond practical function are expressions of taste and individuality. Tin containers are also made in many shapes and sizes, have great colors, images, patterns and text making them an ideal materials for creating handbags. In the process of fabricating our own designs, we will learn to alter, cut, form, rivet, hinge and solder tin to make handbags ranging from sophisticated to sassy.
The Handbag Session will end on Monday am - participants are invited to stay for Monday afternoon's Tin Cup Session at no additional charge.

2-Day Clay Workshop

Wednesdays: 9/15 & 9/22

If you’ve hated wedging, curing, etc, etc - If you’ve never worked with clay before - If you just want to get down and get dirty – this Workshop is for you! We’ll work with the “new clay”: stoneware that’s been infused with paper pulp to make it light, quick, easy to work with – and VERY forgiving!! Come and see why our kids have so much fun with this clay!! No experience necessary – all supplies included!

Students who are enrolled in on-going classes and wish to have additional studio time are welcome to attend monthly studio nights. Both studios are open, however studio space is limited – so be sure to call in advance to reserve a spot. Plan on bringing your own project supplies and consumables.

Fold-forming

Learning to move metal gives you the information you need to create with it. Spend a day with a Master – learning about the plasticity, integrity & possibility inherent in sheet metal. No experience necessary.

1-Day Wire + Metal Workshop:
Findings

If you like to work with beads etc – and want to take your work to the next level, look at your findings. Often that’s what distinguishes hand-made from mass-produced. We will look at a variety of options, and learn to make unique closures and connectors. No experience necessary. Tools and equipment provided.

Evening Glass – 4 weeks
Fuse & Paint

Tuesdays: 9/28, 10/5, 10/19 & 10/26

This is a great class for painters, poets and artists working in other disciplines – as well as glass artists who want to take their work to a new level. Students will be introduced to contemporary and traditional glass painting techniques, and simple fusing. Your imagery will be permanently fused onto /in glass. No experience necessary – all materials are included.

Evening Metals – 5 weeks

Mondays: 10/4, 10/18, 10/25, 11/1 & 11/8

This is an on-going class designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of metals – one step at a time. Each week students will be introduced to a new technique – beginning with piercing and sawing and continuing through surface treatments, forming & finishing. At the end of the session we will combine the elements produced weekly to create a bracelet or box. Students are encouraged to repeat this class, as we will introduce new techniques each session. Basic tools & supplies are included; additional materials will be available for purchase.

Illuminated Felt
Instructor: Faith Hagenhofer

In any color, felt is GREEN! Students will learn to make translucent laminate wool felt on the first day, to be used in creating a lamp shade/form on the second day. The unique qualities of handmade felt as a lightning material will please and surprise. These can be as simple or layered as your aesthetic dictates. Shade armatures can be made in class or purchased from instructor.

Family Glass Night

PMC Sampler

This is a great way to be introduced to PMC! You'll learn to use all forms of Precious Metal Clay: clay, sheet, syringe and slip. You will also learn PMC techniques including shaping, texturing and weaving; creating bezels, setting stones, incorporating fine silver and firing the clay. Plan to go home with a finished piece – and the skills you need to create many more!!

Artist Book/Journal Series
#1: Wonderland

November 5 (7 – 9pm) & 6 - 7 (10am – 5pm)

Join us for a “Magical Tour of Your Wonderland” - through the hedge where the white rabbit disappeared, down into his tunnel, down the well and through the teeny tiny door to Wonderland. Visit the fabulous Wonderland Gardens, see what philosophical advice the caterpillar has for you and possibly chat with the Chessy Cat. Experience the ruckus of a real live mad tea party and create your own way to find the wonder again! This is a multi-media altered book class, where you will learn how to alter pages in an existing yet forgotten book to bring it back to life. Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced – students can take these techniques as far as they are comfortable!
